Private Scholarships
The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee- This application connects you with more than 100 different scholarship funds based on school, area, financial need, area of study, etc. Applications are open January-March
The Scarlett Family Foundation- This application is for students who graduated from a Middle TN High School, demonstrate financial need, are pursuing a business or STEM degree at a 4-year school, and have a GPA of 2.5+. Application is open September-December.
Stegall Charitable Educational Foundation- This opportunity is for high school students or existing college students who are enrolled full time. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.8 or higher. The scholarships are awarded on a scholarly basis and eligible students are able to reapply.
State Scholarships
TSAA- Tennessee Student Assistance Award is provided on a first-come-first-served basis. The earlier you fill out your FAFSA, the more aid you are likely to get! The financial award is determined by the institution, but awards range from $2,000-$4,000/year. To be eligible for this scholarship you must be a resident of TN, have an expected family contribution (EFC) of $5,846 or less, complete FAFSA, maintain good academic standing, and be enrolled part time.
TN Promise- Tennessee Promise is available to all eligible residents of TN. It covers two years of any technical school or community college (accepted at some 4-year institutions, provided they offer associates' degrees). You must complete your FAFSA in order to qualify and complete the community service requirements.
TN Reconnect- Tennessee Reconnect is a scholarship for adults wanting to return to higher education. Whether you're a service member, going to school for the first time, or returning to school, this scholarship will help you get there. To be eligible you must be 23 years of age and have completed the FAFSA.
HOPE Scholarship- The HOPE Scholarship offers residents of TN up to $2,250 per semester. To be eligible, students must have attained a minimum composite ACT score of 21+ OR a 3.0 GPA.
National Scholarships
National scholarships are available to anyone in the United States, so they can be competitive. They are generally given out as need-based. Be sure that you fit the minimum requirements before applying.
